Black Swan {Powder Room}

This week we're talking about the powder room. It may be small, but I have big plans for this tiny space. Keeping with the same vibe as the rest of the house this bathroom will be, as expected, black white and gold... obviously!

Continue on to see "before" photos and more info on how to create this look.

BEFORE:

While I realize this could potentially be much worse, I'd have to say it's still pretty bad in my book. FYI what's not photographed is the old moldy carpet which was absoloutely revolting. Anyhow, here are my grand plans:

Walls- I'm going to re-wallpaper the walls with this fabulous Queen of Spain black and white wallpaper from Schumacher. I love the graphic pattern and I know it will make a bold statement in that small space.

Floors- Since the walls are going to be super graphic, I decided to keep the floors a little more simple. I'm using these Black Hex Tiles from The Cement Tile Shop which I adore. The shape of the tiles is unique and I love the contrast of the geometric floors with the more abstrast organic walls.

I'm going with an off-the-shelf vanity in here from IKEA, but I plan on giving it a little makeover with a new counter top and knobs. I went with this simple white Hemnes vanity. I wanted to keep it really simple since the rest of the space has a lot of drama already. I'm going to use the same Calacatta Nuvo countertops I'm using in the kitchen, I'm obsessed!!! Then I'm adding this vessel sink from DecoLav. The knobs will be these stunning black and gold little numbers from Anthropologie, which are even more stunning in person. The last piece of the vanity is the faucet. I chose this gorgeous Delta Trinsic faucet in Chamagne Bronze

The toilet was surprisingly quite tricky... I needed something short and round to fit in the space but still wanted to keep those modern clean lines. I ened up choosing this simple little number from American Standard, and I could not be happier with my decision.

Now for the accessories... I went with this round gold frame mirror from West Elm. I think the shape plays off the circle-like pattern wallpaper nicely. Towel ring... I'm thinking that this one from Urban Outfitters might be nice, and I love the idea of the hex to tie in the hex pattern on the floor. The toilet paper holder is this lovely little lucite number from cb2, and I plan on using some gold screws to mount it. The last item is my prized brass lotus chandelier that I found in Montreal at a small vintage store for quite a bargin. These are a little tough to come by, but I have seen a few on 1st dibs recently if you are interested.

And there you have it... my powder room dreams!
